Steven O'Connor

Author Steven O'Connorabout this book: *The future. It's all about friendship, love ... and dangerous video games.*

On Earth. 2050. Three teenagers become caught up in a deadly video game called EleMental, designed to be highly addictive.

EleMental surrounds you, working through your mind and leaving you wanting more and more and more. Until you no longer know left from right or up from down. All you know is, you want to keep gaming and gaming and gaming ... Until you no longer can tell what’s real and what’s virtual. That’s when you’re addicted. That’s when you’ve got gameblur.

And Grimble Dower, game maker, is feeding off you, sucking up your gameblur and using it to build his virtual world. He is building ... Virtualitee.

'EleMental: A First-person Shooter' was traditionally published in 2010 through Pier 9/Murdoch Books. With the massive changes in the publishing, Steven O'Connor has embraced indie writing and is now offering his young adult novel as a self-published ebook.
The original print edition was very favorably reviewed by Bookseller+Publisher and BookList.

Steven O'Connor both draws on his love of sci-fi and his extensive professional social work background in his writing. One day, he asked himself, what if someone invented a video game in the future that was highly addictive? What then? He wrote EleMental to find out. And it's a joy ride of a thriller, to boot.

He has now also written a follow up to EleMental, called MonuMental. But that’s another story ...

• Review: '... a fantastic and exciting debut novel by Steven O'Connor ... this reads like Philip K Dick for teenagers.' --Bookseller+Publisher
