Book: Synocant Schism by Peter J. Mahercategories: Book, War, Romance, Religion, Philosophy, Politics, Mystery, Poetry, Art, Science Fiction
Peter J. Maherabout this book: This book began as the final novel in the series; it was to be the culmination of six years of complex storytelling. But during the process I quickly realised that it was necessary to make this book the key to the final novel. So Synocant Schism became a way to answer a lot of questions and set the stage for book seven. This book tends to lean more towards intrigue and mystery than outright explanations. But it does terminate a significant threat and establish the basis for a new, as yet unknown threat, to be revealed in the final book. I wanted to bring the story of empire to a fitting conclusion, but I soon realised that it was impossible to unwind so many diverse threads within one book. My only hope is that Synocant Schism does justice to my characters, because I have shared their lives for so long, and I wanted to reflect my connection to them in the way their individual stories eventually played out against the backdrop of the overall story arc.
Amazon.com 4.0 out of 5 stars - Who wins the final confrontation?
• Another great character-driven story that appears to tie up a lot of loose ends from the previous novels. Who wins? Who lives and who dies? But can this really be the last book in the series? — Mike
