Peter J. Maherabout this book: My latest novel is the final book in my Synocant science fiction series. It brings together events and characters from all seven books to culminate in a surprising revelation concerning the nature of existence. I wrote the first book (The Cortex) as a stand-alone novel, but due to a favourable readership response I wrote two prequels (The Transcend & Transcend: Revelations) before continuing the story with The Synocant War, Synocant Symbiosis and Synocant Schism. The first book took almost two years but the final book took just six months to complete. The later books had the advantage of being set within a society already in place; most of my characters appear in more than one of the books. I chose the title based upon a simple premise: that all life could be the result of a universal equation. I used the multiverse hypothesis postulated by several prominent scientists as a backdrop to the main story. I chose the cover to illustrate the power of creation illuminating the hand of man. Finally I would like to say that I have used my knowledge of philosophy to expand the narrative of my books into the realm of infinite possibilities.
