Peter J. Maherabout this book: The penultimate book in my Synocant book series is probably the most important in terms of a culmination of multiple plot lines. In this book I wanted to emphasis characters over technology and concentrate upon the emotional content as opposed to grand world-shaping scenarios. Once again I had the advantage of a familiar universe as a backdrop to the story. But I was also aware of the need to place the narrative within the context of the overall story arc. My main intention was to humanise my Synocant characters and to reveal the complex nature of their interactions with humanity. I was able to use the religion I created to illustrate the Synocants desperate search for a soul. Once again the overall philosophy of my main character dominates the narrative and sets up the final revelation described within the final book of the series. (The Genesis Equation). Synocant Schism brings together every major character from my previous books as well as new characters who will re-appear in the final book of the series.
