Book Review: Raft 9 (The Peninsula Book 1) by AJ Harred
|5 stars, 1 review|
AJ Harredabout this book: What would it be like if the major world powers went to war? If there was a nuclear holocaust, would there be a Plan B?
These questions form the basis for my first science fiction short read, Raft 9. I wanted to write about it from the perspective of someone just living their everyday life when confronted with this horrible situation. I also wanted to centre the story around a female protagonist, who is strong, capable and yet flawed at the same time - that's where Sara Ahmed steps in. She's smart, feisty, witty, and capable, even if she's also a little socially awkward and insecure.
Raft 9 is the first instalment in The Peninsula series. It will beg you to jump in and join the race to get off the planet with Sara. The next episode will pick up where Raft 9 leaves off, and will take you on a journey into another world. It's going to be exciting, a little bit scary, and full of drama. You'll love getting to know the characters, and finding out more about their lives as the story progresses.
I really enjoy writing science fiction because it can take you beyond the borders of what's currently possible and lets you stretch your imagination. It's also a lot of fun. I hope you have as much fun reading Raft 9 as I did writing it.
