Jo Zebedeeabout this book: Set in gritty Belfast, after an alien invasion, Inish Carraig combines Jo knowledge of the city with her love of fast-paced sci fi. Authentic character voices, a great sense of place and cracking pace, Inish Carraig is a book that will stay with you.
John Dray killed the alien invaders- although he didn't know what he was doing. He's still done for xenocide, and gets sent to Inish Carraig, a prison off the north coast of Ireland. There, he discovers a plot that could threaten humanity. He has to unveil it. First, he has to get out of prison.
I wanted to convey the Belfast I knew in the book, the voices, the dark humour, the sense of the land. But I also wanted to write a cracking sci fi book that will appeal to both Young Adults and not so young adults. Once I added some aliens who use human manure as a breeding ground, some hard men on the street, and a cop who can't help getting involved into the mix, it fell into place.
