Joan Donaldson-Yarmeyabout this book: Sometimes when I come up with an idea for a story, I write the manuscript and then decide what genre it fits. That's what happened with "The Criminal Streak". When I finished the story it was about 120,000 words long. My publisher, Books We Love Ltd, agreed to publish it but thought it was too long. I then divided it into two books, the second being "Betrayed" which will be out in October. I call them my Cry of the Guilty-Silence of the Innocent series.
The setting is a planet that has been knocked off its axis by an asteroid. Once the damaged and deaths are assessed, the remaining inhabitants move into brick megacities in the northern and southern hemispheres with nearby farms growing all their food. Everyone has a job but the crime rate is high. Depending on their crime, criminals are sent to the former cities, called Fringes, or to space ships that hover above the planet. These are near capacity and the leaders of the planet are now searching for a penal planet to set up a colony for their prisoners.
