Alan James Garner about this book: Chosen Too stemmed from my lifelong interest in human evolution, so it seemed a natural progression to write the story as a sequel to The Chosen One. Only now the setting has shifted from prehistoric America to prehistoric Africa where the mammalian descendants of Bronte have evolved into the man-apes standing on the brink of humanity. And, weirdly enough, my love of cats manifests as the mortal enemy of the Uprights, as prey and predator each struggle to tip the balance of human development in their favor.
Again, this is my take on a pivotal epoch in the emergence of humankind, albeit with a science fiction twist! The ancient astronauts theory deals with possible extraterrestial intelligence influencing our growth as a species, which I seamlessly incorporated into the plot. Chosen Too also gave me the welcome opportunity to delve deeper into the lives of prehistoric mammals, all too often relegated to the shadows cast by the bigger dinosaurs as was the case in The Chosen One until cosmic intervention wrought earth-shattering change.
