Victoria Pitts Caineabout this book: Since I was a little girl, I had an interest in ancient Egypt. What a better place to continue the trilogy started in Alvarado Gold but to find the main characters from the first book kidnapped and lost in the vast, white swirling sands of the desert?
Cairo took an enormous amount of research which I was careful in representing, and I have been asked many times if I've been to Egypt which I have not. One of the scenes in the story describes a restaurant where the heroine is sure her friend was last seen. The heroine stumbles into the kitchen only to have a knife drawn and threats made convincing her to leave. One of my readers told me they'd visited the restaurant while in Egypt and how did I know about it? Good research.
The intrigue and the riddles kept me guessing as I wrote the book coming to the conclusions in the end to solve the mysteries entwined with culture and ancients beliefs.
