Lauren Linwoodabout this book: Even though I usually write historical romances, every now and then a different type of story calls out to me.
Boy, this one was WAY different! Illusions of Death spotlights a serial killer that is highly intelligent. He has committed several series of pattern killings in the past and has never been close to being caught by authorities. He lands on a brilliant idea—a wicked new pattern—that no one is able to figure out.
Enter Karlyn Campbell.
Karlyn recently went through a messy divorce. For a change of pace, she leaves New York and comes to the small Georgia town her parents live in to continue writing her popular crime fiction series and put her life back together.
Logan Warner has done the same thing. A highly-decorated Atlanta detective, his marriage didn't survive the kidnapping and deaths of his twins. He returns to his hometown and becomes its police chief.
Together, Karlyn and Logan come together—at first, romantically—and then as they try to stop Roy G. Biv, the Rainbow Serial Killer.
I enjoyed researching various serial killers and definitely have enough material for a few more novels down the road!
Swept Away by Romance said: Illusions of Death had everything I look for in a good romantic suspense—gruesome murders, a heart-warming love story, strong main characters and a thrilling chase to catch the killer.
