Blair McDowellabout this book: When Lacy Telchev buries her husband she finds herself in a perilous situation. Igor, much older than Lacy, had secrets. Soon Lacy is being chased across Europe by men who believe she can decipher those secrets. Evading her pursuers with the aid of a chance acquaintance, the handsome and mysterious Max, Lacy travels across Germany, Austria, and Hungary, to a shattering discovery in Budapest. Along the way, she meets three women from her husband's past with whom Igor has left clues for Lacy. As Igor's story unfolds, Lacy is less and less certain who her husband really was. Who can Lacy trust? If she fails to solve the mystery, if she trusts the wrong person, there could be deadly consequences.
Travel has always been an important part of my life. The idea for Romantic Road first occurred to me when I was in Germany on the Romantische Strasse in the walled medieval town of Rothenberg. The setting, a small town surrounded by grim high stone walls, a large entrance into the town called the "Hangman's Gate", cobblestone streets, old fashioned street lights…it called out for a heroine fleeing for her life, a handsome mysterious protector, and an unknown evil pursuer. As the story evolved I realized the name of the old Roman road, the Romantische Strasse (the Romantic Road) could be viewed as a classic double entendre. In my novel it refers to place, but also to the romantic road of several of my characters' lives.
If you like books filled with excitement and suspense, books with a soupçon of romance, books that take you to exotic places and introduce you to diverse and interesting characters, then I believe you will enjoy reading Romantic Road.
• "Blair McDowell has penned another riveting tale chock full of danger, suspense, romance and mystery. I'm quite sure the book grew tentacles and wrapped around me because I found it impossible to look up until I'd turned the final page. I confess, I was a willing prisoner." — Deb Sanders, DebSanders.com
• "If you enjoy edge-of-your-seat suspense with a heart-pounding romance wrapped around a story that also makes you think, read Romantic Road or any of Blair McDowell's marvelous stories...The suspense is edge of the seat, while Lacy's inner journey makes her a sympathetic and fascinating character," — Marlene Harris, ReadingReality.net
