Tori Scottabout this book: Rookie Justice is book 2 in the Southern Justice series. It picks up the story of Deputy Cody Wills a few years after Lone Star Justice.
Greendale County is growing rapidly, and growth has brought an increase in crime to the small, rural area. Cody is used to working alone, but now he's saddled with a partner--and not just any partner. A green recruit straight out of the academy, and a female one at that.
Charlene (Charlie) Booker might be fresh out of the Academy, but she's no stranger to guns, or danger. She's an expert sniper with several Middle East tours of duty under her belt. She not afraid to take on any challenge, including Cody.
Together Cody and Charlie track down a threat against the local high school, discover Charlie's parents aren't who she thinks they are, and take down a drug dealer or two. The job can be tough, but it's all in a day's work for Greendale's newest crime fighting duo.
