Prescott Laneabout this book: First Position is my first book. It is very personal to me. I wrote it under a pen name, concerned that I would expose myself too much if I gave my own name. (But now, having read such positive feedback on Amazon from people I don't even know, I wish I had used my real name!) Writing the book was cathartic. The book, at least in part, deals with issues I thought I had long ago buried, but try as I might, kept coming back to the surface -- the value of relationships, the agony of loss, and the salvation that comes from family and friends. So I thought it was important to write all this down, in an interesting, sometimes funny, sometimes painful way.
The book should appeal to anyone looking for a good read: it blends football (for men) and ballet (for women) with real characters in real situations doing their best to come to terms with their past in the hope of securing a promising future. I hope everyone enjoys reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.
