Patsy Collinsabout this book: This book was published as a result of my winning an international novel writing competition. I was delighted to beat over 600 other entries. Once the book was out I had to learn how to promote it - I've had a busy few months with book signings, BBC radio interviews, blog hops and even a mention in My Weekly magazine.
Escape to the Country is a romantic crime story. Leah the main character starts out as the redhead in accounts who, after being accused of stealing a client's money, goes to live on a small farm. This is very different from the author's life. She started off living on a small farm, then became the redhead in accounts ...
Having my characters live in areas I know and work at jobs I've done is very helpful when it comes to research. I had to remind myself of a few details but, just like Leah, I can milk a cow, muck out the pigs and eat vast quantities of cake.
Escape to the Country is Leah's story, not mine. Thankfully I've never been accused of embezzlement, nor have I suffered the emotional dilemmas she's faced with both at Primrose Cottage and back in London.
Escape to the Country is set mainly in the fictitious village of Winkleigh Marsh in Kent, England.
