M.J. Schillerabout this book: I'm often asked why I wrote "Taken by Storm." My author friends will understand when I say I did it because I had to. These characters were floating around in my head, demanding that I make a story for them, and I caved. Perhaps a better question would be, why did I choose to publish it?
Writing this book, I fell in love with the characters, and I needed these characters to live outside of my head, and outside of my computer. They needed to be appreciated by others because they were so wonderful they deserved to be shared. That may sound braggadocios to you, but it's not. I don't feel I created the characters so much as I just translated them, for lack of a better word, for the reader. So I'm not bragging on me, on bragging on them. (Oh, maybe it's time I let you in on a little secret, writers are often times a bit schizophrenic; it's the nature of the business.)
So how could I not tell you about Prince Tahj, heir to the throne of Avistad? Handsome, intelligent, but not comfortable in his role as a leader. He is sweet, braver than he thinks, and totally without pretense. How could I not tell you about Bashea? Beautiful, stubborn, she thinks before she speaks, but she is fiercely loyal, dedicated to the people she loves, and selfless. Brought bound and gagged to the prince as a "gift," can she trust anyone, let alone the prince before her? And Radeem? Lovable buffoon. A flirt, but still in love with his wife. Ready to die if need be, to defend Tahj, but still quick to poke fun of his friend, and anyone else in range. How could I not tell you about when they were fleeing the palace amid a rain of arrows? About how Tahj and Bashea squabble, fight, and fall in love with one another while facing panthers, desert storms, and the evil Lord Boltar? And Bashea's brothers, Bagrat and Jahmeel? Now those two are REAL characters! Ha! They take the cake. Come meet them.
All you have to do is read their story.
