Devon McKayabout this book: As a teenager I moved away from the sunny beaches of Florida to Alaska. For a young girl who'd been surrounded by people her entire life, then thrown into the remote wilderness...well, lets just say it was eventful, kind of like landing on another planet. But it didn't take long before Alaska won me over and I fell in love with the state.
I learned quickly to respect the wild life and became quite self sufficient. We grew our on vegetables, chopped wood, and basically lived off the land. In fact, my first vehicle was a beaten up, green Yamaha four wheeler which I loved dearly.
In my novel, Staking A Claim, I wanted to share some of my experiences. My heroine, Samantha Held, intent on making partnership with the advertising company she works for, heads to Alaska to make the perfect vacation brochure. She discovers early on that most Alaskans prefer the remoteness of the state and don't welcome the advertisement.
After receiving a frosty reception from Blake Langford, a local fish and game officer and rancher, Sam is determined to finish her goal. Blake, however, has other plans. Falling in love with the enemy was not part of them.
Please join Sam and Blake, on a steamy, tumultuous journey in which they discover love trumps all.
