Kader Rawatabout this book: I am originate from Mauritius, British Colony at the time of my birth.
In the year 1977 when I came to establish myself with my wife and my little daughter in Reunion Island, a French Department, I was facinated by the customs, cultures, traditions of the people living in the country. I have got the chance to learn lots of stories from those people I encountered and, therefore, I have taken my decision to start writing my novels, inspiring myself from all sources of informations I got already.
The lover of Bourbon Island with a historical background indulging both Islands, is a work of fiction, my first novel published as paperback in 1989.
A young muslim girl which would be entitled later A love of youth tells the story of this young girl born through the union between a Muslim immigrant and a Christian girl of a poor family.
I wanted to tell the story of this young girl who is coming in the world just after the Second World War, a time that I know well because I was born at the same period.
The years 1950 up to 1970 are those that I enjoyed the most out of my entire life. I have drawned a lot in my own experiences to talk about the problems of societies, of different cultures, customs and traditions in the steps of this girl who will grow up in the environment she discovered as time passed by. I can only seize the opportunity to speak about these people, families and of all the worries of life and of well being of these people.
The young girl who evolved in this modern society would not be able to escape the tough rules of evolutions and would be trapped. She would try to get out on her own means by committing enormous mistakes, which will lead her to so many disastrous situations.
She will lead you in a succession of desperate adventures before giving birth to her illegitimate child in France.
