Chicki V. Brownabout this book: Till You Come Back to Me is the story of Charles Stafford, a plastic surgeon from a prominent Atlanta medical family. He goes against family tradition and gives up his medical practice to volunteer with Doctors Without Borders in Nigeria where he meets Nurse Adanna Okoro, the first woman he's ever met who is not only beautiful, but holds the same goals and values.
Adanna is devoted to her work. After being born in Nigeria, she and her family moved to London, where she received her secondary and nursing education. Her goal was to return to her country and use her training to help those in dire need of medical attention. Adanna goes against her family's tribal beliefs when she starts dating Charles.
I wanted to write a story about a large family with six very different sons, and I introduced Charles to readers in the first book in the series. Each book in the series is a standalone book about one of the brothers. It took me six months to write the story, and I did quite a bit of research about the medical organization, Lagos, Nigeria, tribal differences, Nigerian food, and surgery for childhood deformities.
Since all of my books have titles that come from old school R&B songs, I thought the Aretha Franklin song perfectly embodied what Charles and Adanna experienced in their long-distance relationship.
