J.M. Garlockabout this book: The adventures of Centurion Sextius Baculus taje him deep into Gaul where he is reunited with his Tenth Legion. He participates in numerous battles as Caesar tries to subdue rebellious ribes on the Atlantic coast. The Ceturion is given a copper-backed shield by Caesar i.e., Caesar's shield. The Centurion is also adopted against his will by the mysterious speculatores who save his life more than once. Different Gallic tribes present different tactical problems for Caesar and his undermanned legions. Fighting for their freedom the Gauls fight to the death. Preparing for an invasion of Britain Caesar has thirty war ships built and defeats the Veneti in the battle of Moriban Bay that seals their fate and lays the groundwork for his future invasion of Britain.
The book took months to write. The research was extensive. This book is aimed at lovers of Roman military fiction specifically Julius Caesar and his legions that invaded Gaul.
The hardest thing abot writing this book was keeping my focus over a long period of time. I write six days a week and I also have other writing obligations that keep me reasonably busy.
