Marquita A. Heraldabout this book: People who are resilient don't experience fewer problems or hardships in their life, they simply choose not to be defined by them. I have written a lot about personal growth over the years, and time and again the topics that always draw the greatest response have to do with building self-confidence and how to overcome adversity. Before committing to write the book I researched what was available on the market and found most books written about resilience are based on a clinical perspective focusing primarily on child development and recovery from major life crisis.
I chose to approach the subject from the perspective of strengthening key characteristics, prevention and minimizing the affects of adversity.
Research has proven that we all have some level of resilience within us, and it is possible to practice and master specific skills to cultivate the higher level of resilience that gives one the ability to not merely survive, but bounce back from adversity stronger than ever.
The greatest reward for me is to hear from my readers that my writing has inspired them to grow beyond their fears and insecurities to reach for their dreams. It is my hope, my desire that Stepping Stones for Greater Resilience will likewise encourage people to accept the personal power they have to thrive through adversity; to spend less time worrying and more time creating memorable moments in their life journey.
