Betty Mermelstein about this book: I have always been an observer, studying the relationships of people and how they interact with one another. Seven for Reflection is a collection of short stories that deal with relationships: stranger to stranger, lover to lover, friend to friend, son to father, wife to husband, etc. It took several years to write these and to decide to compile them into one book. We have all had similar experiences with people as we go through our lives, and I wanted readers to reflect upon the stories and perhaps relate them to their own past situations. That is also how I chose my book cover, which is a picture of a reflecting pool in Gort, Ireland. I think water always asks us to stop and delve into our thoughts about our lives. This book is definitely for later-teens and adults. In reflection, I also hope readers will see strong characters emerge as they confront their struggles, and yes, most of those primary characters are women.
