Elizabeth Baileyabout this book: My background was originally in theatre, but a lady of the Georgian or Regency era can't become an actress and remain respectable. My heroine, therefore, had to have a very good reason for her ambition to take to the stage. She is in fact a very good actress and regularly performs for her family, but now she plans to rescue them from penury by becoming an actress under an assumed name.
Isadora reckons without the intervention of the new head of the family - the Errant Heir - who finally arrives to take up his inheritance and proceeds to thrust several spokes in Isadora's wheel. Viscount Roborough's patience is wearing thin since he has succeeded to his title only to find his fortune already wasted. His hopes of using the unexpected boon of Isadora's family residence are rapidly thwarted by her determination to stop him from selling the house.
Battle is fairly joined, and if only our hero and heroine could refrain from finding each other mutually attractive, things might be a great deal easier! Mayhem and confusion result, with neither willing to back down and the family getting caught in the fall-out.
