Robert N. Story
about this book: It's the late 1950's, and nineteen-year-old Arthur Burlingame is in love with radio and with Barbara Ann Walcott, his childhood sweetheart. He knows that he can't live his life without both of them. Barbara Ann doesn't seem totally comfortable with Arthur's celebrity alter ego, Doug Stevens, and Arthur wonders whether their upcoming marriage will have room for the three of them. Meanwhile, Barbara Ann insists on celibacy before they get hitched, and Arthur is struggling to remove his virginal straight-jacket.
I guess my inspiration for the story was my own experiences as a nineteen-year-old DJ, and the fact that I married the girl I loved at that time and are celebrating our 53rd anniversary. However, contrary to what many readers have mistakenly assumed, this book is NOT my autobiography.
The title is the name of the fictitious radio station where most of this story takes place. I wanted to find call letters which were not being used by a real station, and did a search of the FCC files to find one.
This book is an easy read, and according to the reviews, is written in a very comfortable voice. I think it's suitable for nearly every age.
