Allan J. Lewis

Author Allan J. Lewisabout this book: If you are looking for another hero that helps the police fight crime, like "The Mentalist" "The Medium" "Castle" or "Sherlock" then why not try, "Joe the Magic Man". Joe is the main character in the book "GET OUT OF MY DREAMS". Joe goes from being the FBI's most wanted man, to the FBI's most helpful citizen.

Through a near death accident that put Joe in a coma for three days, he found out that when he came out of the coma he had the gift of reading minds. And as he slowly recovered, he found he also had the power of getting into people's dreams, where he was able to find out their utter most secrets, and then manipulate them to do his bidding. Joe knew if people were to find out about his powers they would see him as a freak, and turn on him, and he would lose his friends. So Joe has to live a dual life and keep his true identity a secret from his family and friends. He felt a little like Jekyll and Hyde.

By day Joe went about leading a normal life, come night time when he curled up in his bed, he would close his eyes and think of someone whose dreams he wanted to visit. His thoughts would enter their minds while they slept, and Joe would become part of their dreams. He also had the power to hypnotise them and he choose Alice and John, and he used them to play out his sexual fantasies, and when he had finished Joe would erase the memories of the dream, he did not see his adventures as such a bad thing. It had become an addiction that he could not give up.

Joe wanted to put his powers to use in helping people, and one way he thought he could help the public was by helping the police fight crime. By using his gift for getting into the criminal's dreams and having them tell him where they buried the body, or hid the money. But to do that and keep his identity a secret he would have to have help, and that opportunity came from one of his dream victims Alice, she told Joe to get out of her dreams. Alice Timberlake is a want-to-be-reporter, and when the FBI found out that Alice was able to talk to Joe in her dreams, and she could remember her conversation clearly when she awoke in the morning, that is when the FBI realised they could use Joe's gift in many different ways, so they set up a small task force using Alice as a go between for Joe.

---

I began writing this book as a psychological Thriller, with Joe using his gift to solve crimes through his dream stalking. But as Joe's character stared to manifest I realised that with that kind of power, Joe would have to have a darker side to his character. So it ended up being more of a "Supernatural Thriller" with sexual dreams entwined, giving Joe his dual life.
