Becky Cairnsabout this book: 'Seductive Truths' is the first volume of 'Seductive Trilogy', so keep your eyes peeled for the following two which will be out within the next couple of years.
The novel is a psychological/romance thriller with elements of eroticism woven in. It's written from the point of view of Alex Brown, an engaged woman in her late 20s who has everything to look forward to, however, she is still haunted by the death of her brother. Through being kidnapped she discovers the truth behind her brother's death, falls in love with the wrong man and learns that those closest to you are the ones that can hide the darkest secrets. The story takes you on a trail of lies and deceit and as events unfold around Alex the reader is left with more questions than answers.
By writing in first person narrative I wanted to create the feeling as if the reader becomes Alex. They discover things when she does, they put the pieces together along with her, and they may get as confused as her. It's a novel that will get the mind working and the emotions flowing and also leave you with a surprise ending.
'Seductive Truths' took me about two years to complete, but this was because I was writing it while studying. If I weren't in education it would have taken me six months to a year instead, which will be the case for my sequel, which I'm currently working on, so hopefully by the end of the year at least, I'll have volume two published.
The hardest part was "writer's block", tough to break through. Sometimes it took me a day or two to get going again, but when the ideas start flowing I get carried away and the story takes over and writes itself. Research was a great help in producing authenticity, but also became a great way at developing scenes.
In writing this novel I have learnt a great deal of things, the most important one being never to rush. The greatest things take time and energy and if you work hard at the things you love the outcome is more likely to be in your favour. Also, never give up. Have patience and you will succeed…a little bit here and there will go a long way.
I love writing; in fact I thrive on it. It's what makes me happy. To see what's in my head come alive and expand is a wonderful feeling, I just hope I can convey all this via my writing and allow the reader to get as much enjoyment in reading my work as I did creating it.
