Author Henry Claude Barbot, M.D.about this book: "Reflections and Opinions of a Mental Health Professional" is a book that compiles twenty years of hard core psychiatric experience!

As indicated by the cover, I deeply reflect on my training and experiences to bridge the gap between the medical jargon of the psychiatric world and the real life world of everyday people who struggle to understand the changes that a loved one who is experiencing mental illness may be going through.

In this book, I take my many experiences working with the complexities of the human mind and relay them in such a way that all people can relate. I touch base with many topics that are prevalent in the everyday lives of the average person, but present them as they have been perceived through the mind of the mentally ill patient as well as from the perspective of the trained professional.

There is the concept of death, drug usage, domestic abuse, child abuse, and the inclination toward mass violence as an outlet or escape from the horrors that are the reality of these patients.

So many times, the subject of mental health is approached with reluctance and fear, mainly because of what is not known or better yet what cannot be understood regarding this particular field of medicine. Many consider it a dark and unapproachable arena, however this book tackles that perception in particular, opening up those doors and clearing those misconceptions for the many who may have a friend, relative, neighbor, co- worker, spouse, or lover who suffers from the psychiatric events that have come to plague their lives.
