E is for Eucharist
"E is for Eucharist - A Catholic Alphabet" is a beautifully written and illustrated by author Michael Shoulders and artist Rick Anderson. This children's rhyming book explains in verse the intricacies of the Catholic religion. This follows Michaels other alphabet book formats, in that there is a simple verse for the younger child to explore, and a sidebar to continue a more in-depth explanation. But what will take your breath away are the illustrations. Rick has provided some lovely paintings for each Catholic letter. In an interview earlier this year with Rick, he was telling this writer about some of the stories behind his paintings. One in particular showing a young girl and young boy praying together is a story that could rival the story of Blindside. All of the illustrations have been carefully chosen by Rick and are all from churches in his home state of Mississippi or Michael's home state. Each illustration has special meaning to the illustrator. Adults as well as children will be delighted by this exploration of the Catholic religion in verse and paintings.
