Book Review: Daimones by Massimo Marino
|5 stars, 1 review|
Massimo Marinoabout this book: Daimones has been lingering on for years, with ideas and images gathering slowly and without making any sound, like the first snow in a cloudy night, when not even the moon caresses the land with her cold fingers. And then, one morning, it is there, a white pure layer, as if it has always been there.
Daimones is the greek name for gods. And its roots gives us demons as well. Gods are not necessarily good-willing only. It has other meanings too which will be revealed in the story. The cover also comes from one of the many meanings for Daimones.
All events reported in the book, especially those which trigger the story, are true and took place in the recent years, and some I witnessed too.
Sometimes readers ask themselves why the author chose a certain scene, or certain dialogues, or made something happen to this or that character. Well, I learned that not always it is a matter of choice: characters and situations take up autonomous life and sometimes writing was trance-like, things happening in front of the author's eyes who struggles to keep up with the events.
Daimones ends where a new chapter of the human race is ready to be written...
And what comes after is already haunting my day-dreams...

what to read next: if you read and liked this book...
Lots of questions left dangling...I enjoyed the story and I want to know what happens next. The book ends and leaves the reader with many questions: What happens now to the "Selected", and the "spared ones"? What forces intervene in the reconstruction, and why?
I hope the author is at work with a sequel because the story screams for it.
