Ruthe Priceabout this book: I.O.U.$., a political satire, is, as the cover says, a funny, fiscal fantasy of government, goons and greed. The protagonist, is the national debt, but there's also the mafia, the secretary Miss Contour (the girl who has no contours at all) and the top CFO's in the country. And then there's the British Prime Minister.
The humor is drawn from the mostly incompetent people we elect in the mistaken belief that they're smarter than we are.
The fun begins when the elected officials turn for help to solve the problem of the national debt in the most unlikely place. The surprise is that it works in spite of their efforts. Almost.
This book has been "in the works" for many years as I watched the circus grind on. A political junkie, I've had my tongue in my cheek for more years than I want to admit to. My reader is anyone who keeps up with the news and has any interest at all in the machinations of the members of our government.
I had to write this. It's a great laugh. If you don't take life too seriously, Congress is a hoot!
BTW, not to brag, there are three reviews, all five star!
