C. Michaelsabout this book: What would you do if you discovered the impossible? Imagine that you are a Senator and there is a bill that will amend the Bill of Rights, a bill that will inject ideals of right-wing zealots to be the law of the land. Your heart and morals tell you to vote against it, your party makes it clear that you won't be re-elected if you don't conform.
It is your vote that counts, you are the only Senator in your dominating party that is wavering. You have one week before the vote, so you had better figure this out soon.
Meet Senator Claire Winslow, a moderate Republican who uses her power to help with women's rights. This bill, SB 1257 will erode the lives of women and minorities. It will infuse radical religious views to be part of the Constitution. It will introduce fear into the law, enabling citizens to protect themselves against those they deem to be dangerous based on their appearance. Claire has a decision to make. Vote for this law that she views as criminal toward most Americans or vote against it and lose her powerful platform to reform laws that will advance women.
What about that impossible discovery?
Claire and her reporter friend, Rachel, stumble upon a bohemian-type coffee house where they meet a woman, Eve Hart. Eve has found them by means of a portal discovery.
Eve lives in the future, 30 years to be exact. Her horrific life is the result of SB 1257, a nation full of hate and fear.
This story packs a serious message by depicting what "could be" as a result of amending the Bill of Rights. The actions people take to protect their ideals will keep the reader in a gripping state from beginning to end.
Claire's question. Can she change the future by her present day actions?
C. Michaels wrote this story based on concerns over the changes that have taken place in US politics over the years. She poses a scenario in hopes of engaging the reader to reevaluate extreme politics. The book's audience is intended for young adults on up. In other words, its purpose is to encourage voters to think twice about radical political ideals.
Michaels enjoys introducing twists into her suspense novels, a difficult web to track. Her efforts in this story are intended to give the reader a smart read while maintaining suspense and dramatic energy necessary to make it a page-turner.
Each of the women in this novel have distinct differences, but find themselves on a wild ride throughout the week as they learn to come together in order to stop the possible horror of Eve's world.
Can their actions change the dire straits of Eve's future?
