Grant M. Handgisabout this book: A book of poetry, made up of two collections of open verse and timed verse. The poems were written while living and traveling in Mexico, and consist of observations and impressions of Mexican culture and its people.
The first collection, written in 1996, focuses on life in Mazatlan and thoughts of a woman back in Tucson, AZ., nightlife on Sabalo Street and half-pint drumming bands. These might be said to be love poems, having put to paper the thoughts that caressed me those nights when a certain woman was on my mind. The poems describe Mexican life from the eyes of a gringo.
The second collection was written in 1997 while living in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with my future wife. Part of the story of the poems. Living in a hacienda on the side of a dirt road leading to Eden offered up an unfettered view of life in Mexico with the ancient traditions, and other tales. The poems derive from the spirit of adventure that lingers even today. "Living On Dreams" is a collection of poetic impressions of standing in a wondrous land, making sense of something beautiful.
