Stacie D. Wyatt

Author Stacie D. Wyattabout this book: Love.Lust.Life. is my second book of poetry, which focuses on my life in three phases. The book touches more on my personal feelings, emotions, and struggles. I wrote most of the poems between 2008 to 2010. Topics include my two miscarriages,
What inspired me to write the book: LLL was originally part of Chocolate Kisses--my first book of poetry. When I was writing the book, the book was getting too long. I did not want the book to be too big, so I split the books apart. Chocolate Kisses would focus on my former addiction, while LLL will focus on other aspects of my life (love, fantasy of being in love, sexuality, personal struggles).

How long did it take me to write: I am not sure how long the book took me to write. An acquaintance of mine suggested I finally write a book around 2008 or 2009. I started compiling poetry together and putting the book together in MS Word. I got stalled while editing the book--from cover design--to determining if this is what I really wanted to do--to formatting. I finally finished the book this year. I started back editing after I published a few short stories for Lulu. If I can edit a short story and design a simple cover, I can edit a book of poetry. I went ahead full steam--published Chocolate Kisses, LLL, plus a few more short stories and one compilation of my first three short stories.

What was the hardest part of writing my book: Editing--I did not want to edit my poetry. I chose not to edit the poetry but the format of the book instead. It was also hard finding cover designers. I had friends, who were graphic designers, but they did not want to execute my vision. I also looked online, but I could not afford some of the prices, people were offering. I ended up designing all the covers for each book in MS Publisher or Paint.

Why did I choose this cover: I wanted to design something simple, quick, for the book. I used MS Paint. Took me a few days but I was happy with the results.
