Amy Michelle Mosierabout this book: The title is just what the book is about. Water is one and at the same time many drops. Likewise, each poem may be understood one way or many ways. I kept each poem flexible, lyrical, visual and with a usually uplifting tone. It draws upon different slices of life.
This book wasn't hard at all to write, only taking 2 months for the writing part. I got up at 4 AM everyday to start writing. It's the time of day when my mind is most clear, having just woken up. For two of its poems, "The Ballad of Red Feather" and "The Bells of San Xavier" I did research as they're both ghost stories based on the real haunting. I grew up across the street from San Xavier, a missionary church built in the late 18th century.
A third of the poems are meant to sound like devotionals (Christian). I was also inspired to write ghazals, an Arabic type of poetry, in English of course. I also experimented with pantoums, a Malaysian type of poetry that reads like a circle. But I am mostly a big writer of free verse. I use slant rhyme which produces some unexpected lines.
