Book Review: Cocktail Piano Standards by Al Lerner
|5 stars, 1 review|
Author: Al Lerner
Publisher: Hal Leonard
Good Selections With Great ArrangementsAs an advance pianist in the past and now returning to play after many years of absence, this book has me considering the possibilities of a lounge pianist. Al's arrangements give these songs a unique approach that entertains and promotes your skill as a polished performer ...even thou I am just starting my playlist.
This book is not for flashing your talent but more about putting the song first. Good for lounge music or anywhere really. Intermediate level but doesn't sound like it. "Moonlight Becomes You" & "Easy To Love" are solid works. If I had one complaint, and it's a tiny one - I just wish the songs were longer than 3 pages in most cases.
