Book: Didactic Memoranda - An Agnostic Approach To Grace by David James Lindopcategories: Book, Social Commentary, Personal Development, Atheism, Organisation Development, British, Empiricism, Psychology, Management Consultancy, Sustainability, Philosophy
David James Lindopabout this book: A work blending core philosophy, social commentary, personal development and some aspects of organisation development and management theory - can also work as a form of "self help" ...
Broadly, demonstrates a deduction of a workable system of ethics and morality, from a handful of rational principles, and the direct experience of being a conscious entity, i.e. a human being.
Shows that we can (and should) behave morally, without requiring there to be a "God". It does suggest that religious freedom is important - adult people can believe what they want - but shows that religion is not actually required to give a foundation for ethics.
The book does NOT claim to show whether "God" does or does not exist - that's not possible anyway; those questions are defined as "noumenal" i.e. beyond the limits of language and knowledge. But it DOES demonstrate that human life can be managed ethically even if there isn't... I think the demonstrate is final, in that sense.
The book is written as numbered paragraphs to aid reference, discussion and sharing - I hope this will not appear too jarring for readers - I have found it easy enough to read, but then I would ;-) ...
I will be interested in feedback / questions / criticism and intend to set up a wordpress blog for that over the next couple of weeks.
