Rochelle Campbellabout this book: Fury From Hell is a book that came on the heel of SuperStorm Sandy in 2012. My lights flickered. I kept writing. My children jumped on my bed and watched TV while talking at the top of their lungs. I kept writing. I had to go to work and wait on a line that snaked 2 blocks long around the new Barclays Center downtown Brooklyn. I still kept writing when I got back home after a 3-hour commute that November. This is how Fury From Hell was born.
Several months into the writing, I found out I was pregnant so a double birth would be eminent – my book baby and my daughter! Throughout the morning sickness, the second trimester (and third trimester) wobbling, I wrote, revised and edited. I got sick of looking at it after I had worked on it for a year. I put it down during the months after my daughter was born. Then, picked it up again and revised, rewrote and edited some more in late 2013.
In the spring of 2014, I took a Gotham Writers course to get more insight on how to make the book stronger and tighter. It was just over 80K words. I finished the course 11 weeks later and had new ideas brimming over. By mid summer, the book was nearing 100K words! (Well, so much for streamlining my svelte novel!) However, it was the book I wanted and I kept it.
Fury From Hell then went to a professional editor and came back ready for publication. The novel that is available today is the product of a little more than 2 years of work, tears, and more than a few labor pains.
This paranormal cop thriller will make you cringe, smile, guffaw and do double-takes. It may even make you miss your stop on your next commute. If you do, let me know!
