Christina Ginfridaabout this book: Dead Ends is a fantasy/paranormal novel I wrote for young adults or for anyone just looking to escape from the day to day drudgery. It follows Elizabeth Bugsby; a young adolescent girl just trying to transition into high school. However, normalcy is completely out of the question since her family owns and lives above a funeral home in Central Florida. As if hormonal changes weren't bad enough, her hair starts to attach to ghosts and develops the ability to reanimate the dead. She uncovers that her family tree is harboring a few demonic relatives and an ancient evil force has arrived in her town to wreak vengeance on her bloodline. Luckily, with the aid of a cute ghost and a newly developed government agency for investigating paranormal phenomena they manage to stop these devilish tourists from tearing up the town.
I wrote this book after my father died when I found myself in a funeral home wishing for an escape. I designed these characters to be quirky and uplifting so maybe I could remember how to smile. Elizabeth Bugsby could be anyone's friend, sister, or at least a crazy cousin. I did research on all the Seminole Indian references and tuned into my love of the paranormal for inspiration.
