Ben A. Sharptonabout this book: As someone who grew up in the '70s, the paranormal has always interested me. Coming out of the hippy-dippy, hallucinogenic 60's, there seemed to be a new focus on the potential of the mind. Novels (King's Firestarter and Dead Zone) and movies (The Fury and Brainstorm - okay, that was 1983) portrayed the mind as having powerful special abilities and gifts.
My novels are different than most thrillers. In each of my books, the protagonist is an average guy (or girl) caught up in an unusual situation. No super heroes, no former CIA/Seal Team Six/undercover/clandestine operatives, no CIS Anywhere. Just run-of-the-mill, everyday folks (or, in the case of 2nd Sight, people who don't know they have a unique ability) who must muster the courage and ingenuity to survive unusual situations. I like that. I like to think any of us could be a hero if need be.
2nd Sight challenges us all to find and put to use or unique gifts and abilities.
