Fiona McGierabout this book: Keisha is a neurobiologist doing research to isolate the compound in the brain that increases intelligence. She wants to offer it to everyone so humans can use the best of ideas to progress beyond the mess we've made of our planet. She is appalled when she finally succeeds and her boss sends her home after warning her that she's to tell no one what she has done. Then men show up at her apartment trying to kill her.
Yuri is a Russian vampire brought across by Rasputin in the waning days of the Romanov empire. He's spent years trying to find someone who can isolate for him what it is in the blood that makes him a vampire. He's ecstatic to find Keisha, and amazed when desires he had thought were in his past, roar to the surface when he sees her curves and beautiful face that house an intelligence that awes him. Can these two people from such disparate cultures find happiness with each other? Or will they both be destroyed by the Mayan Prophecy of the Undead?
