Melinda Craigabout this book: Beneath the Water is the first story in The Triton Series. It's based on a woman who finds herself struggling with reality. She's not certain what she sees is truth or a product of grief and mental breakdown. This story is a fantasy suspense read and touches on the struggle of how fragile our minds can be, especially when faced with things that do not make sense.
I've always enjoyed reading short stories, especially in the fantasy and mystery genre. The idea for Beneath the Water crept up on me...I would find myself thinking of this story and my main character, and plots/ideas would just jump out in my thoughts. After realizing the ideas wouldn't go away, I decided to write them down and the series emerged.
As for any newer author, there is a learning curve on book promoting and finding just the right cover. It took me several tries, but I finally found the perfect cover for this tale and the others in the series.
It's always hard to actually let go and choose the "publish" button, but after going over this tale frequently, I knew it was time to publish live and let it go. My hope is that readers will find themselves asking, "Is what she's seeing real?" "Is she crazy?" "Please be real!" I want this to be an enjoyable read that gives the reader a bit of suspense and wonder. Hopefully, they will love to continue the story and read her next tale: "Escaping the Tide," on melindacraig.com
