Mary Barrucco about this book: Mary Ann and Eddie got married at the age of 22 with high expectations for their future. Soon reality set in. Dysfunctions by the name of alcoholism, gambling and spousal abuse played their hands. Mary Ann tried so hard to hide Eddie's drinking and it took its toll on her. She found peace in the candy store slot machines. She passed the invisible line and got into terrible debt. She knew she hit rock bottom and had to get help or kill herself. Mary Ann called the Gamblers Anonymous hot line and started going to meetings. The group saved her life. Eddie was still drinking and being abusive, but Mary Ann handled it better. Soon Eddie's drinking caused him to get a heart decease that only a heart transplant can cure. Their lives went into another spiral. This sickness turned out to be a blessing. Eddie stopped drinking and became the man she married. With GOD'S grace Eddie got a heart. It was so bitter sweet because someone had to die so he can live. Our heart Doctor Fernaine encouraged me to write the book and tell readers that they are not alone. My non-fiction narrative was patterned after THE TWELVE STEP PROGRAMS because those steps saved both our lives. The hardest part of writing this book was relieving those nightmare days. The best part is to let readers know that no matter how much pain your in there is always hope and help. Just reach out and ask.
