Lisa Kellyabout this book: As a writer who covers Notre Dame sports, and a woman in addition to that, I found myself constantly defending the University. It seemed to me that the only stories the media picked up about Notre Dame were the negative ones, and I wanted to put together something positive about this great University that is so near and dear to my heart. That is how this book took shape.
It started out as a conversation between two friends, which lead to another, and another and before I knew it I had interviewed 25 former Notre Dame football players, "student-athletes," from the class of 1958 through the class of 2003. As they told me their stories, I realized they all came back to one common theme, that their time at Notre Dame, and what they learned from the Notre Dame Value Stream, molded and shaped them into the men they became. They are not perfect, and neither are their stories, but their journeys are wonderful and to be treasured. I hope you enjoy reading these stories as much as I enjoyed writing them, and I hope to write many more in the future. Cheers! ~Lisa
