Michelle Barclayabout this book: Morrigan's Shadows is a novel about nightmares, love, fantasy and reality, all with a backdrop of horror and mystery. It follows the boring life of Morrigan Fuseli as she goes from a woman with just a job and an apartment to a woman caught up in the blending lines of nightmares and reality.
It took 30 days to write Morrigan's Shadows, as it was for the NaNoWriMo challenge. It took another 6 months to edit it and publish it. It required very minimal research, so the time crunch was only tough when I had been staring at the computer for 16 hours and my eyes were boiling in my skull.
The title for Morrigan's Shadows reflects the duality of Morrigan's life and how the focus is on her "shadows" or the darker aspects of her existence. I chose the cover because it reminded me of a scene in the book that involves these nightmarish trees. I also loved that the photo was taken in the dark and was varying shades of shadows, which is consequently the initial tentative title for the novel -- Shades of Shadows, that is.
Those who have read Morrigan's Shadows tend to enjoy dark fantasy and horror. It is not for the faint of heart or the virginal of ear, so to speak. It has some gore. It has some adult themes. If that is not your "thing," stick around. I have several novels of different genres in the oven.
