April Chloe Terrazas about this book: Neurology? For KIDS? Some would say, no way. I BEG TO DIFFER! Children as young as 4 years old are learning about the brain, spinal cord and structure and function of the neuron. The book begins by introducing the central nervous system. This is followed by a thorough overview of the different lobes of the brain and what they are responsible for. Each page also has a "remember this" section to help the young reader form recall related to each section of the brain that is learned. Following this is the spinal cord, then the neuron. The neuron on the cover is just too cute. I doodled this one day, not intending it to be used for anything but after showing it to a few people, they couldn't stop complementing it so I figured, kids can learn about the neuron, and the brain! This is how the idea of this book started.
The layout is simple and easy to follow. It, like all of the books of the Super Smart Science Series, contains sound it out boxes to allow the young reader to pronounce the terms independently. Confidence booster-YES! The children who read this book are so intrigued by the topic. They also LOVE the attention they get when they tell others about the topic. I am so proud of all of the little achievers that read this book over and over! This series has brought me great joy!
