Patrice Williams Marksabout this book: I love movies and books based on true stories. I also love old black and white films from the 1930s and 1940s. I've combined my two loves within my writing. Whether I'm writing a screenplay, a short story, or novel, you'll see elements of both.
My first short story (The Unfinished) takes place in the distant future; but a future that looks an awful lot like the 1940s.
I've just released a novel, (The Abduction of Nelly Don) about a self-made millionaire fashion designer who was kidnapped in 1931... based on a true story.
My very first planned book series (Montgomery Vale) will focus on a James Bond-type character. The twist? He is a millionaire; in the 1930s; and he is black.
Because I have a background in journalism; I love to research. You will discover that all my stories that take place during these time periods will have a ring of authenticity to them. I research not only the dialogue, but clothing, vehicles, products used during that time, food eaten, songs sang at that time, etc. Anything that will take you further into that world, I will add.
I hope you enjoy those little details as much as I do.
