Normalizes the Birthing Process
I love this book. It is one I recommend to expectant mothers and all those interested in natural birth. My favorite page lists the statistics for Ina May's midwifery practice in the USA. Her C-section rate is 30x lower than the average hospital in the US AND her maternal mortality rate is also many times lower. Physicians obviously have a tonne to learn from Ina May and midwifes as skilled as she. [by Theresa Gerritsen]
No Fear
No one had given me any information on childbirth, and I was terrified... until my midwife passed a copy of this on to me to read. After reading the beautiful birthing stories, and hearing more about how natural, empowering and purely awesome birth and labor are I went into my very first labor with no fear whatsoever and am currently looking forward to my second. Thank you Caroline, thank you Ina May, thank you every strong and beautiful mother; keep contributing your stories, and take the horror away for first timers. There's enough pain and suffering in the world without adding fear as well.
