Author Tamara Shoemakerabout this book: A murder, a riddle, mystery and mayhem pull Jeff and Jill into a relentless race towards their deaths. Will they escape before it's too late, or will they lose their lives and the lives of those they love?

Broken Crowns is a thrill-ride of an adventure. A nursery rhyme turns deadly as the history behind it comes to light. A trip to London could end in disaster for Jeff and Jill. Will the past forever haunt the present?

I decided to write Broken Crowns when I was looking up some nursery rhymes for a random quote. I saw a footnote about the history of nursery rhymes, and fascinated, I dug deeper. Political intrigue and death threats weaved their way through seemingly harmless rhymes. When Jack fell down and broke his crown, suddenly I was reading about Cardinal Wolsey and Henry the VIII and Catherine of Aragon and a frenchman named Tarbes, divorce, excommunication from the Church, bribery and death. From that, a story started to spin itself in my head and I had to write it down.

History enthusiasts, thrill-seekers, even romance fans will find something in this book. I wrote it in 2006, but since it was my debut novel, I did not find a publisher for it until 2012, six years later. I was fortunate enough to be able to travel to London and visit many of the areas I wrote about in the book. History seeps from Hampton Court Palace, The Tower of London, and Tower Bridge. It was fascinating watching my characters walk over those very grounds in my mind's eye.

I hope you enjoy it. I lay no claim to a masterpiece - it certainly isn't the greatest piece of fiction ever written. But I do claim entertainment value for my book. I believe it will keep you captivated while promoting a positive message of forgiveness and grace.
