Book: Red Island (The Sgt. Reid Series) (Volume 1) by Lorne Olivercategories: Book, Suspense, Thriller, Canadian, Police, Indie, Mystery
Lorne Oliverabout this book: I had wanted to write a novel about what makes a serial killer become what they become, but at the same time I didn't want the killer to be the hero. I was lucky that my wife happened to be interning with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and I was able to interview her boss. I thought what better a hero than an officer in my nation's police force. If I was going to write about a police officer I wanted the proceedures to be as close to reality as fiction would let me go. I did not put Red Island out there until he read it and agreed that it was pretty close to reality. To this day he still answers my questions for future novels.
We were also living in the Canadian province, Prince Edward Island. It's motto is The Gentle Island. There wasn't a better place to put a serial killer than right there.
