J. D. Mallinson about this book: "The Swiss Connection" is an investigation into the death of a prominent surgeon found dead at an English beauty spot. Was his death an accident while out hiking, or was it foul play? If the latter, was it connected to his past life in Basel, or to his current medical practice in England. Inspector Mason, of Scotland Yard Special Branch, pursues his investigations in some very scenic areas of northern England, near estates owned by the Queen.
His enquiries also take him, with his young assistant Detective-Sergeant Alison Aubrey, to Switzerland and Germany in his attempt to solve a mystery which leads him into some very gray areas of modern medicine. It will appeal to well-educated readers who enjoy novels of good literary quality, original plots, interesting characters and evocative settings drawn from the author's personal experiences living and working in Europe. It took me about eight months to write, involving some research into communist East Germany. I chose the cover because it represents peoples' traditional image of Switzerland.
