Radine Trees Nehring

Author Radine Trees Nehringabout this book: A camping trip on Arkansas's beautiful Buffalo National River--soft water sounds, a beautiful campground, lovely hikes to view the natural world--what could be more fun for an anniversary surprise? Henry has purchased a sleeping bag for his new wife, and, along with her adult son Rob, and Catherine, his own much younger sister, is making plans for a family get-away. Carrie will love it!

Except, she doesn't. "At my age you expect the comforts of life," she says. "Like beds. I am not going to sleep on the ground in a tent. You three go on without me."

So, Henry and "the kids" depart, leaving Carrie at home, mulling over her decision to let them go without her.

Then, when Catherine and Rob disappear during a hike through the Rush Ghost Town and mining area, a terrified Carrie, along with her best friend Shirley Booth, head for the River to aid in the search for the missing pair.

What next? An evil-minded archeological thief has abducted Catherine after Rob hikes away from her in an enthusiasatic search for new archeological treasures. He ends up trapped in a bluff shelter, Catherine is imprisoned in an abandoned mine shaft. A lot of problems for Carrie, Shirley, and Henry to work through, and looters with guns don't help at all. So--come along with me to the beautiful, "peaceful" Buffalo National River and find out if the perils are resolved. One thing I promise . . . none of my characters will remain unchanged after this camping trip, if they all survive!

Enjoy the book's epilogue written by the former staff archeologist at the Buffalo River!
